Endemic to the Hawaiian island of Kauai, is common in wet forests and bogs from 1050-1550 m.
Adenophorus tamariscinus, known as wahine noho mauna, is a unique fern species found in
Hawaii. Characterized by its delicate, feathery fronds that can grow up to 8 inches (20
cm) long, this fern plays an important role in its ecosystem.
In its natural habitat, which includes wet-mesic forests and lush rainforests, Wahine
noho mauna thrives as an epiphyte, often found growing on the trunks of trees or in the
crevices of rocks.
